Widmark Chosen Realtors Good Neighbor Copyright permission by: Foster's Daily Democrat Article Date: Saturday, October 11, 2008 As part of the ceremony, NHAR President Jim Lyons presented Widmark with the Association's Good Neighbor pin, an engraved crystal award and $1,000 for Widmark's Ageless Dreamer Foundation. The Dover-based foundation, to which Widmark and her husband Peter have donated roughly $90,000, has been responsible for many senior dreams come true since its inception in January 2006, including an airplane flight for 89-year-old Ashton Welch, a Harley-Davidson ride for 101-year-old Laura Johnson, and an appearance at a 55th Homecoming Reunion in Illinois for Dr. Frank Crider, a recent stroke victim. "Such dreams, Laurie determined long ago, should not be limited to the young," Lyons said. "And so they have not." In addition to her financial contributions, Widmark has essentially been a full-time volunteer for Ageless Dreamer, contributing 30 hours a week to see that the dreams of senior citizens are fulfilled. And like those Ageless Dreamer serves, Widmark has big dreams as well, hoping to someday expand her organization to reach globally. "We want more of New Hampshire to know about it, of course, but eventually we will be national and international," she said. "It's a work in progress." The NHAR Good Neighbor Award was introduced in 2003 to annually recognize one or two Realtors who make exceptional contributions to improve the quality of life in their communities.
